The latest Rotary Australia Repurposing Equipment (RARE) newsletter for January–February 2025 is out, detailing the incredible work being done to support communities across the Pacific and beyond.
Highlights include:
- The Lau Education Charitable Trust successfully packed and sealed a container filled with school furniture, books, uniforms, and supplies for 95 Lau schools. Special thanks to Swire Shipping for providing pro bono freight from Brisbane to Suva.
- The Rotary Club of Archerfield coordinated a shipment of medical beds, wheelchairs, and supplies to Ba Hospital in Lautoka, Fiji. Volunteers are needed for the final packing on 1 February.
- A playground from the Rotary Club of Boonah was shipped to Pikinini Playtime School in Port Vila, Vanuatu, demonstrating how Rotary responds to unique community requests.
- The Rotaract Club of Honiara in the Solomon Islands distributed donated school supplies, while the Rotaract Club of Paddington packed over 1,000 books for their library project in the Solomon Islands.
- Deliveries of essential medical supplies were made to Terapo Health Centre and Malalaua Health Centre in Papua New Guinea, improving healthcare access in remote areas.
