As we begin 2025, it’s a great time to plan ahead for the United Nations International Day of Peace in September. With our Peace Pole installed at Petrie Terrace State School, now is the perfect opportunity to connect with the school and organise a ceremony around the Peace Pole to mark this important day. Clubs that have held similar ceremonies report excellent feedback from students and staff, creating meaningful connections within the community.
Peace Pole Progress Across Australia
We’re pleased to share an update from the Rotary Club of Canberra Burley Griffin on the progress of the Rotary 100 Peace Pole Project. The original goal of installing 100 Peace Poles to celebrate Rotary’s centenary has been overwhelmingly surpassed:
- 407 Peace Poles have been registered across Australia.
- South Australia has contributed over 150 Peace Poles through their own centenary project.
- Tasmania has added 65 Peace Poles to commemorate 100 years of Rotary service.
This brings the total to over 600 Peace Poles across the country—a remarkable achievement!
New Supplier & Queensland Support
Following the retirement of long-time supplier Peter Clapinski, Heidi Unferdorben has taken over through her company, Peace Poles Oceania. Heidi was instrumental in the South Australian project and now supplies Peace Poles across South Australia, the Northern Territory, and Tasmania.
In Queensland, Rob Curtis is assisting in keeping efforts coordinated, helping ensure smooth communication and organisation within the state.

Visiting the Canberra Rotary Peace Bell
